MOUNT JULIET — Approximately 75 messengers and guests gathered Thursday evening, October 16, for the annual meeting of the Wilson County Baptist Association, hosted by Shiloh Baptist Church in Mount Juliet. The meeting featured ministry reports, elections, and a key motion to reorganize the association’s structure to strengthen cooperative ministry among local churches.
The event was held in the Missions Mobilization Center, where attendees experienced a unique setting of worship inside the disaster relief warehouse and enjoyed a meal following the session.
TBMB Executive Director Randy C. Davis delivered the evening message, preaching from Acts 9 and drawing insights from the Apostle Paul’s ministry. His sermon highlighted the power of cooperation among churches and challenged attendees to engage actively in the harvest field.
During the business session, Chuck Groover presented a motion on behalf of the WCBA Special Committee calling for a comprehensive restructuring of the association’s organizational framework. The proposal outlines a new structure focused on three primary priorities: Strengthen Churches, Start Churches, and Send people into the harvest field.
Under the plan, three ministry teams titled Strengthen, Start, and Send will coordinate efforts to equip churches, plant new congregations, and mobilize believers for mission. Three supporting committees, Oversight, Stewardship, and Trustees, will provide leadership and accountability.
The recommendation also calls for the appointment of a team to survey member churches to identify ministry needs and priorities, helping guide the association’s future work. The motion passed unanimously, initiating the first step toward aligning WCBA’s guiding documents with the proposed structure.
Associational Missionary Scott Brown brought a report and message from Philippians 1, encouraging churches to move forward together in unity and purpose under the new structure. Additional reports were given by Nathan Clark, who shared updates on the ministries of the Cumberland University Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and Julie Howard, who celebrated the year’s many special events through the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU).
TBMB Executive Director Randy C. Davis commended the host church, noting that Shiloh “knocked it out of the park” in providing hospitality and creating a spirit of worship for the meeting. The gathering also marked Shiloh’s one-year anniversary as a member of the association.
The evening closed in worship and prayer for the cooperative mission of Wilson County Baptists and the churches they represent.
